Palisades Village is a membership-based, volunteer-driven aging in place community for adults in the Berkley, Kent, Foxhall, Palisades, Spring Valley, and Wesley Heights neighborhoods. Palisades Village is a community of caring friends and neighbors in the Palisades area of Washington, D.C. We give older residents access to tools, services, and social events that enable them to build strong relationships with their neighbors and remain in their homes as they age.

Our annual membership options offer area residents access to a large network of household support services and community gatherings. Find out more about what it means to be a part of Palisades Village by following the links below.

About our model

Palisades Village is a Washington, D.C. community focused on enabling older adults to remain in their homes, living independently, comfortably, and safely as long as possible.

We are aligned with the national Village to Village Network, “Aging in Community” movement, which aims to help older adults and Baby Boomers continue to reside at home without burdening their family members with caretaking responsibilities as they age.

We help our residents thrive in their community by providing access to a network of volunteers who help with requests and hosting social events and gatherings.

Our organization was founded in 2007 and has continued to grow each year. Learn more about our history.

About our members

Palisades Village is a diverse, multigenerational group of individuals who represent a wide spectrum of cultures, traditions, and socio-economic backgrounds. Our members include retired attorneys, poets, bankers, health care professionals, former government employees, and individuals from many other disciplines — ranging in age from 50 to 100. Our volunteers include professionals, tradespeople, students, retirees and residents of all ages from the northwest Washington, D.C. community.

Palisades Village has built a community that is connected by a common goal – to support one another socially, emotionally and physically in such a way that allows older residents to remain safely in their homes and actively engaged in their local environment. We offer two types of memberships: Full and Associate.

Palisades Village Members are:

  • Aged 50 or older.
  • Active, curious, and eager to engage with others.
  • Comfortable and capable of living independently.
  • Interested in meeting new people – of all ages.
  • Beginning to find some household chores more difficult.
  • Realizing that many “old friends” or family members have moved away or are less accessible.
  • Concerned about placing the burden of care on family members.
