If you associate enough with older people who enjoy their lives, who are not stored away in any golden ghetto, you will gain a sense of continuity, and of the possibility for a full life.    — Margaret Mead

Palisades Village Expands

Palisades Village recently expanded our service area to include Wesley Heights.  We started in Palisades, Foxhall, Kent and Berkley. Give us a call at (202) 244-3310 to learn how this works, what you can expect, and the many ways you can contribute as a member, volunteer or supporter to enhancing our local community.

Palisades Village sponsors activities and a network of volunteers through which neighbors help older neighbors to be safe, comfortable and active in their own homes as long as possible.

Fiesta was a Success!

Thanks to all the volunteers, members, neighbors, merchants, institutions and friends who contributed to the success of our Fiesta and silent auction at the Mexican Embassy Residence.

The proceeds from this, our first-ever fundraising event, will enable us to help more older neighbors at all income levels who now or in the near future could use a ride, a chance to make friends over lunch or dinner, or a little help with chores from neighbors who volunteer.

Special thanks go to our hosts, Arturo Sarukhan, Ambassador of Mexico, and Mrs. Veronica Valencia-Sarukhan, and to the co-chairs of the Fiesta's organizing committee - Palisades residents Jill Deal and Judith Watson.

     Watch Us!

Palisades Village was featured on My Generations, an AARP-TV show carried nationally by public TV stations. The video lasts 4 1/2-minutes.

     Hear Us!

Click here to listen to Palisades Village’s president, Andy Mollison, and leaders of two other Washington area villages, as they chat on WAMU 88.5 FM with Kojo Nnamdi on his noon show, Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010. They discuss how villages made this region a national trendsetter in support for older residents who want to stay safe, comfortable and active in their own home in their own neighborhood.
